Vision 2030 Jamaica: National Development
Plan is Jamaica’s first twenty-five year development Plan. It
is aimed at putting Jamaica in a position to achieve developed country status
by 2030.
The long-term development plan is based on a comprehensive vision “Jamaica, the
place of choice to live, work, raise families, and do business,’ and on guiding
principles which put ‘people’ at the centre of Jamaica’s transformation.
Several strategic priorities have been identified, as critical elements in
fulfilling the objectives of the Plan, including the development of human
resources, international competitiveness, environmental sustainability, health,
social protection, science, technology and innovation, effective governance,
and law and order.
To assist with the successful achievement of the Vision, development of the Plan
is being driven by a new quantitative tool, Threshold 21 (T21) – Jamaica,
which is an integrated development model, customized by the Millennium
Institute, USA, in collaboration with the PIOJ. T21- Jamaica brings a unique
feature to conventional sector-specific planning by focusing on the dynamic
interactions of various aspects of our local economy, society and the
environment, and in facilitating long-range forecasting.
