Out of the pain wrought on so many lives by the Kendal Train Crash of 1957, something good is emerging.

From the 1960s to this day, the children of Wilton Gardens have grown up playing in and around the locomotive from that crash as the engine was placed there in recognition of the number of persons from Trench Town who perished on that day.

The residents have now organized themselves to create a heritage site with the former Jamaica Railway Corporation locomotive as its centrepiece. An extension of the storied history of Trench Town that continues to offer inspiration through cultural objects that in stillness, continue to teach our history.
