LET’S TALK GOALS
October 31 – December 19
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development & the SDGs
What is the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development? Why does it matter? What does it mean for us as Jamaicans? The midpoint of implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has been a period of reflection globally, regionally and locally on what has been achieved, the challenges that constrain development and measures that are necessary to move forward. Both globally and regionally, there is a call for transformative action that drive progress and mitigate the impacts of the formidable global financial, security and environmental challenges.
It is therefore necessary to have action not only by partners, but also for clear messaging which highlights the reality of Jamaica’s development path, the work being done by stakeholders to achieve the goals and the solutions or pathways to progress. These messages can assist in creating the ownership in the development agenda.
Let’s Talk Goals is the communications component of the Midterm Review Programme by the PIOJ with a free-to-air series and essays on key development issues.
The Let’s Talk Goals TV series intends to demystify complex subjects on key matters by bringing together subject matter experts and host, Archibald Gordon in a conversation format. It also serves to counter the despairing approach to development topics, by highlighting the solutions and best practice being undertaken by partners across Jamaica from international partners to local groups.
The five essays expand on issues related to development planning, social protection, trade and investment, inclusive growth and community renewal.
