National Population Policy
The population and development policy seeks to capitalise on the positive effects of population processes in order to achieve a higher standard of living, and to improve the well-being of the Jamaican population in a sustainable and equitable society, which are key components of development. To this end, the National Population and Development Policy is built on two main pillars: the first is to reap the benefits of the window of opportunity created by the favourable age-structure of the population. The second is to realize the demographic dividend.
