A Special Place, A Strong People

This story map highlights the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park and World Heritage Site, Jamaica’s first and the Caribbean’s only mixed heritage site. The Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park and World Heritage Site spans four of Jamaica’s fourteen parishes and protects some 41,000 hectares of natural forest. The park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, and also Jamaica’s sole indigenous group – the Maroons.

The UBN was calculated using data from the 2001 Population and Housing Census and responses from community focus group sessions on selected variables.
