Damage and Loss Assessments: 2001 PIOJ Report Hurricane Michelle

The PIOJ, at the request of the minister, produces socio-economic reports following the adverse effects of natural or other phenomena on communities. Each report is an objective analysis of the total effect of the event, and, allows the government to be in a position to identify possible programmes and projects which may contribute to the redevelopment of the affected area. Many of these reports use the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Damage and Loss Assessment (DaLA) methodology.
