Rose Town Benevolent Society Starts Block Making Enterprise

The Rose Town community of Trench Town on December 16 opened the office of its block making factory ahead of the training of residents in block making by HEART Trust NSTA next week. The ceremonial ribbon cutting was done by Member of Parliament for St Andrew South and Leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding, and Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Jamaica, Ambassador Marianne Van Steen. The Rose Town residents were able to make their project operational through technical assistance from the PIOJ with significant funding support from the EU through the Jamaica Social Investment Fund Poverty Reduction Programme (JSIF PRP). Other partners include the Social Development Commission, Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation and HEART Trust NSTA.

When up and running, the block making factory in Rose Town will be well placed as a supplier of quality blocks for the construction start of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Police Plaza slated for 2021.
