PIOJ Data Privacy Statement

The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ), the data controller of this event respects your right to privacy and is committed to protecting your privacy.

Purpose of collection: To facilitate the objective of this event- the National Symposium of Best Practices for Community and Social Development 2026

Types of data collected: The personal data we collect is what we use to confirm your attendance and how we may keep in contact with you for matters related to the event purpose. This will include sex, first and last name, job title and institution, and professional contact information.

How we use your data: To provide and facilitate the event services which includes registration and access to the event. The proceedings of the event will be videotaped for the purposes of archiving, visibility of the information related to the symposium and to produce reports pertaining to the event.

Protection of your Data: PIOJ ensures that your data is adequately protected from unauthorised access or disclosure through appropriate technologies.

Sharing of Your Data: The personal data collected during the event/meeting proceedings (images and voices) may be used and shared for reporting, media or communication purposes. By attending this event/meeting, you agree to appear in published report, photos and/or videos pertaining to the event.

Storage & Retention: Personal data will ordinarily only be retained for the duration necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. In this case, personal data will also be retained to remain in contact with participants where follow-up is required, and to comply with auditing laws and regulations. The estimated retention period is between five (5) – seven (7) years after the date of the event.

Data Subject Rights: You may exercise your rights as a data subject by completing a Data Subject Request Form or contacting our Data Protection Officer in the event you wish to have images/videos removed from the public space.
